"EARLY MDR PIT PHOTO"
Mack Daddy Racing began in the year 2003. I had been racing vintage and AMA for about 7 years, 1995-2002, during my second go-around at a race career. I raced as an AMA Pro from 1976 through 1984 when I quit to begin my Commodities Brokerage business, Geo Trading, at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. My second go-around was probably more successful than my first, as I won many races in both AMA and AHRMA sanctioned events. But after suffering a severe, long lasting injury in 2002, I decided to quit racing myself. Since I still enjoyed racing and wanted to stay involved in racing, I decided to let some people race my equipment. About this time I discovered I had become pretty efficient at building competitive race bikes. And I found that I also enjoyed building motorcycles. So that's how this all began.
MDR riders have included, Ben Carlson, Mark Gruber, Mike Gilkey, Jeremy DeRuyter, Jesse Janisch, JR Schnabel, John Olmstead, Danny Eslick, Josh Toungett, Randy Smith, and, oh yeah, Henry Wiles.
I have put together a solid group of supporters and sponsors in the past few seasons and together we had some decent success. My team and I go racing to have fun and help some racers out along the way. We try not to lose focus on the fact that we do this for fun, and try to keep things light and friendly in our pits. Although winning Nationals sure does make for "Lots of Fun!!!" Stop by the MDR pits at any race we are at and say "Hello", it's always a pleasure to make new friends.
